‘F1 2022’ report says supercars won’t have multiplayer features, cross-play support is delayed after launch

“F1 2022” might be just a few months away from its launch, but a new report says several significant changes in its gameplay and features have been made recently. These changes are said to have affected how developers will introduce the supercars and cross-play support.

The report comes from leaker Tom Henderson in an article on Xfire. The insider said “F1 2022” will still introduce the use of supercars, however, it would be limited to the game’s career and time trial game modes.

Henderson was the first to mention that the upcoming racing game will have supercars as one of its new features this year. The leaker previously reported that “F1 2022” players would be able to use supercars in racing against other players in online matches. In the recent update, the video game insider said the decision to limit the availability of supercars came from a request made by Formula One Management (FOM) to scale down the use of supercars in the game.

Aside from supercars, cross-play support was also one of the new features rumored to be added to “F1 2022.” In the earlier report, the function that allows players to race against or with other fans from different platforms was said to be available at launch. Now, Henderson reports that developers have internally delayed the feature. While cross-play support is still underway, it is no longer expected to be available on day one.

The rest of the reported “F1 2022” features last month is said to be intact. The game is also expected to feature all F1 Grand Prix circuits included in the 2022 schedule, such as Circuit de Monte Carlo in Monaco, Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy, and Yas Marina Circuit in UAE. However, the game is unlikely to feature Russia’s Sochi Autodrom after the F1 canceled the Russian Grand Prix last month.

The leak, unfortunately, does not include information on the “F1 2022” release date. However, the same source says the game will likely launch sometime in July.
