Bud Ruehle has had his Buick since new in 1965. After parking it for a few decades he decided to show it some love.
This is what Bud had to say but his Skylark…
“Regarding this online magazine article: https://www.oldcarsweekly.com/features/car-of-the-week-1965-buick-gran-sport-convertible Attached are photos of my ’65 Gran Sport. It is identical to the one in this article – including the colors, inside and out. I am very surprised to see this combination. I thought mine was the only one like it ever made.”
“The only 3 differences between this car and mine are: 1) this car has air conditioning (which I think is crazy for a convertible), 2) mine has the 4-speed stick on the floor with a tach, and 3) my wheels have the factory original wire spoke hubcaps w/ spinners.”
“I bought mine new in May of 1965, having special-ordered it from the factory. I was living in suburban northern NJ at the time. I am its only owner and put every one of the 94,000 original miles on it. When I needed to trade up to a “more family” vehicle in 1972, even though it was in very good condition for its use, no one would give me more than $200 for it. So, really loving the car, I began its 35-year existence as a gypsy, moving it to various covered storage locations every few years.”
“About 15 years ago, and now living in Pennsylvania, I shopped it out to a couple of local restorers who rejuvenated it.”
“The steering wheel has now been replaced but the car still needs a couple of very minor tweaks.”
